2025Enjoy this adventure as much as we did!
Our expectations were extremely high and gratefully met. Being met by an English-speaking Viking representative on our arrival in Cairo, then we were guided through to our luggage and loaded on the bus to our beautiful hotel. The next morning we met our guides Achmed and Rasha for tours of the city. These included museums, mosques, shopping, etc. It was a wonderful way to wind down after our flights. We were then off to Luxor to meet our beautiful welcoming ship, the Sobek! We were welcomed on board by the Hotel Manager and she was friendly, kind, and the director of all onboard activities. She was awesome! She arranged evening educational and fun-filled activities. Our tour guides were awesome and thoroughly knowledgeable regarding current as well as ancient Egyptian history. Our guide was Rasha she was very kind and amazingly knowledgeable. All of the tours from the Pyramids, to Luxor, to the Valley of the Kings, all the way to Aswan were tremendously inspiring. However, the one great highlight was the dawn hot air balloon ride over The Valley of the Kings!!! Do not miss this. We hope that you will enjoy this adventure as much as we did!!

2024Outstanding cruise!
This was an outstanding cruise! The hotels were first class, we were never wondering where to go or what we were to do next. The Viking staff were always available. We cannot give enough praise for our tour director, Ahmed!!! We also went on the Jordan extension to visit Petra and other sites. Petra is not to be missed and the hotel was a very short walk to the site.

2024Viking made sure we saw it all, keeping us safe along the way
This was our fourth river cruise with Viking. Once again, we were taken care of from the moment we stepped off the plane and every step of the way. This was the most action-packed itinerary we've been on with Viking. There is so much to see in Egypt and Viking made sure we saw it all, keeping us safe along the way. Our Egyptologist, who was with us the entire time, was so knowledgeable and able to teach us the historical facts of ancient Egypt in a way that made it interesting leaving us wanting to hear the "rest of the story" the next day. The staff on board the Viking Osiris made sure we were welcomed, comfortable, and well-fed. Highlights included the camel ride at the pyramids of Giza, the hot air balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings, going to Abu Simbel, and the beauty of cruising the Nile River and watching the sunsets. We also added the Jordan post-trip, and it was fabulous! The hotel accommodations were top notch, and Petra was stunning as was the Dead Sea experience.

2023Exceeded my expectations in every way
As I sit on the sun deck letting my hair dry in the gentle Egyptian breeze, I am compelled to share my thoughts. Like many others, I had reservations about traveling to Egypt during these troubling times. Being brave, or so I thought, my traveling companion and I boarded our planes and began the journey. From the minute we were first met at the airport in Cairo by the Viking staff I knew I could put my fears aside. Each day has exceeded my expectations in every way. The concern for the security and safety of the cruise guests has been demonstrated every minute. Be assured the value is unsurpassed. From expertly guided excursions to the gourmet intimate meals, each aspect of the trip is brilliantly executed. At no time have I regretted being brave and traveling to Egypt with Viking!

2023Excellent, excellent, excellent
Truly the trip of a lifetime! We finally stood next to the pyramids of Giza and gazed up at the great Sphynx! We walked through the Valley of the Kings and into King Tut's Tomb! We saw a demonstration of making papyrus! Before papyrus all durable writing had to be carved into stones! The ship - Viking Osiris - is brand new and beautiful. The excursions are exciting and informative. The best part of the cruise, however, is the uniform excellence of the Viking people we met. From room stewards, to ship's officers, to dining room servers to bartenders. Excellent, excellent, excellent! Our piano player in the lounge, Matthew, was incredibly talented! The person that tops the list is our guide, Mr. Nabil. Nabil is in his 3rd decade with Viking and is a gifted, compassionate, walking encyclopedia of Egyptology. I am certain you will enjoy this cruise!

2018Absolute Terrific
Started in Cairo, then to Luxor to get on the Viking Ra and sail on the Nile... The tour was absolutely terrific... The guides were wonderful.

2018Viking does Egypt right.
We started in Cairo with a stay in the Ritz Carlton. Beautiful hotel overlooking the Nile. We visited the Great Pyramids & the Sphinx while in Cairo. After boarding Viking Ra in Luxor we had a wonderful sail on the Nile. All the stops were amazing. Our guides that stayed with us the whole trip were so knowledgeable (both PHDs in Egyptology) and so kind to share their knowledge and their own experiences in Egypt. We also did the extension to Jordan which is a must do! Swimming in the Dead Sea and seeing Petra were both better than we could have anticipated. All staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We would consider doing this cruise over again; it was that good!

2019A fantastic cruise.
We had a fantastic cruise on the Nile River. Our guides were excellent, and the staff on the ship was wonderful. I never thought I would ride a camel by the Giza Pyramids, see the Sphinx, see the magnificent temples and tombs, and take a hot-air balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings! Our trip was amazing, and we highly recommend it!

2020Amazing journey.
I feel like we really got to see Egypt in this float on the Nile. I enjoyed the way the itinerary unveiled the country’s many amazing temples and sites. Our tour guides were very well-informed and helpful. The transfers were handled very professionally, as were the land portions (and flights). I completely recommend this trip to those who want to see the ancient world.
